Wolverine is a very scary creature who is without question suitable as a Halloween costume.  His fearsome wolf like facial features and razor sharp slashing claws have people looking to get away from him.  This costume will surely draw you attention.  As you pretend to be sometimes fortunate and at other times unfortunate James Logan Howlett, you will live out to all the limits of  your imagination.

The Wolverine had to endure all kinds of issues with his superhuman powers.  He was frequently exploited because of his mutant capabilities.  He had the strength to pick up as much as 7 men with one arm and throw them across the room.  He had the ability to see much farther and with more clarity than most humans.  He could also hear over great distances as good as animals that are known for exceptional hearing.  He had this feature called a healing factor that allowed him to withstand great pain and injury and still recover fully.

Although you will not be able to match his superhuman powers and strength.  You and your child will feel very powerful and honored to wear anyone of  these Wolverine costumes.

Wolverine History

Wolverine has an interesting history.  His real name is James Howlett and he is commonly referred to as Logan.  It was around 1975 that his character was introduced to the world.  This was near the time of the Vietnam war and the ferocious and rebellious nature reflected the nature of that era.  During these times, there was an anti-authority sentiment in the air.  His willingness to use extreme violence made him popular because of this attitude of people after the Vietnam War.  People were up in arms about the pointlessness of the war and unfortunately took it out on soldiers who for the most part were victims of this very same war.

A History of  Violence

Wolverine’s story actually starts in the 18th century even though he was really introduced to the comics in 1975.   Wolverine has a propensity to extreme violence and subsequent blackout periods following these episodes.  The most notable such episode was when Logan killed his father the plantation owner  James Howlett.  He flew into such a blind rage that his hands sprouted those claws for the first time and he brutally slaughtered Logan.  But here is the kicker.  He couldn’t remember this rage or the slaughter he caused during it because of his healing factor.  This healing factor not only caused him to recover almost instantaneously from wounds, but it also blocked painful memories from his mind.  Thus he would go on believe it or not accidental rampages like the one where he massacred a whole town of people with his claws and have no recollection of that traumatic episode.

Logan was exploited by the CIA because of his powers initially.  They were able to control his genocidal rages by putting implants in his mind.  That didn’t work forever and soon he wanted to leave the CIA for the Canadian Department of National Defense.    He was helped to get his sanity back by them so he could stop massacring innocent people.  He stayed with them until he was bored to tears by them and offered the chance to join the Xmen by Professor Xavier.
